Third Draft

I am ten pages into the third draft of my book, still carrying the working title “The Ghost Killer”. I wrote the first draft in a month, the second one took a little longer and after that, a group of dedicated readers got to take a look at it. It is the notes that came out of that, that I am now working into (or out of) the story. And it’s a lot harder than I thought it would be.
One reader said: It’s a good story, but I think it might be 100 pages too short.
He was right. I was so focused on plot when I wrote it, I left out a lot of little details. About the settings and locations as well as the characters. So that’s my main task right now, after having written several pages of notes, to try and integrate all these details into the flow of the story, without taking the tempo out. It’s word for word editing. Sometimes, I will re-write the same sentence several times, before finding just the right word.
But at least, I have moved from taking notes to actually writing. That’s a big step.
