I added 631 new photos to my personal collection in January 2009. That isn’t a lot, but you have to consider that I did not schedule a single photo session or work on my stock portfolio. These are all snapshots taken for no other reason than my own amusement. At the end of 2008, I went through a rough patch of little to no inspiration and low productivity, and so I set an easy goal, using the new year to get motivated: Shoot 10 pictures every day throughout January. A very simple challenge, that I still managed to fail. Some days were spent doing other things and no pictures were taken at all. Still, the average is 20.35 photos a day.
I’m an optimist, or at least I strive to be, so I choose to look at it as a draw. And move on to the next monthly challenge. This time, I’m being pulled back into the world of microstock. I’m feeling inspired and motivated to do some stock related photos, after I was persuaded to sit in on a panel at UGCX. Also, I’m working on an article for iStockphoto, which naturally leads me back to the microstock sphere.
Since February is going to be full of microstock related things, I might as well give my portfolio a little love while I’m at it. Microstock may be on the back burner, but it never left the stove. So my challenge for February is to add a minimum of 5 shots a week to my iStock portfolio. I’d do more, but February is also the month I start shooting for the “12 Seattleites” project. There will be an update on that coming later.
