It was Kelly who suggested I create a retrospective photobook, centered around my arrival and settling in the United States of America, more specifically Seattle. I am already working on another Seattle based book, but that one is taking longer than anticipated, so I thought I might take a look at her idea in the meantime. Also, it was an excuse to look through all my photos from the last four years, which is always fun.
As I started looking at and selecting photos, I realized that they wouldn’t mean much to anyone other than me, if presented out of context. So I started writing some text to go along with it. I want to keep it centered on Seattle and photography, but also make it as personal as I dare.
Right now, I am almost done with the first draft of the copy, and I have to admit it’s a strange feeling. I’m not used to sharing my personal life to such an extent. Still, these last few years have been incredibly important to me, so if nothing else, it’s worth documenting for my own sake. I hope someone else might find a bit of inspiration in my story too.
The book will be available through Blurb, once I’m done putting it together. Expect more updates on this project soon.
